"A Gun to My Head"

I dreamed that an absolutely ruthless man was holding a gun to my head. He wanted me to do whatever he said and I knew he was totally capable of pulling the trigger and blowing my brains out. He had no compassion for me and could kill me without a moment's hesitation. It was terrifying. Somehow I got the drop on him and started punching him in the head with my fist, over and over. I'm not a violent person, but I felt like I had to keep punching him until he was dead. If I didn't, I knew he would recover some day, find me, and kill me.

Interpretation:

The dreamer had recently stopped smoking marijuana after being a pothead for many years. The man with the gun in his dream is his addiction trying to control him. The message of the dream is that, in his waking life, the dreamer must be relentless in his efforts to eliminate his addiction or it will eventually return to reassert its control.
